Challenge

Design, develop and help deploy a series of iOS and Android applications and mobile websites to strengthen the Wyndham Hotel Group brands through a fully capable, location-aware tool for room availability, rates and booking.

Exploration

The goal of the mobile apps and sites was to enable a traveler in transit to find the nearest available hotel for the WHG brands (Wyndham Hotel Group, Wyndham, Super 8, Days Inn, Howard Johnson, Ramada, Travelodge, Hawthorn, Microtel, Knights Inn, Wingate, Tryp, Baymont Inn). In addition, the apps/sites needed to provide a full set of tools for researching, browsing, and booking hotels at any point in the future.

Solution

In order to maintain a consistent experience across multiple platforms and brands, a central data clearinghouse, dubbed "Dispatch" was built to interface with the WHG availability and booking systems while providing a single point of communication for all of the mobile clients. The resulting benefit of bridging these systems was a renewed focus on the user experience and consistency of all the apps and sites across the platforms.
